Splinter Cell Conviction

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth installment in the Splinter Cell video game series released in April 2010. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, developers of Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and the sixth generation versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Key members of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas team, such as creative director Maxime Béland, also worked on the game. Gameloft released a handheld version of the game for the iPhone OS on May 27, 2010.

Gameplay
Splinter Cell: Conviction introduces a number of new gameplay features to the series, one of which is the "Mark & Execute" feature, which allows the player to mark specific targets, such as enemies or objects, and shoot them when they burst through a door or window. The player can choose to prioritize these targets, so that, for example, he could distract one guard by shooting out a light in his vicinity and then take out another guard. Another new feature is the "Last Known Position", which occurs when the player breaks the line of sight of an alerted guard. This creates a visual silhouette of where the guard thinks Sam is, allowing the player to strategically flank his enemies. Main target subjects can use the player's abilities against them. The player can be taken hostage by the subject in co-op mode; the hostage's partner can neutralize the subject by shooting them or grabbing them off his teammate.

Other new features include the ability to interrogate characters in real-time and use objects in the surrounding environment against them. Several other features, such as blending into crowds, improvising gadgets, and interaction with the environment, were announced, which according to creative director Maxime Béland would have given the game "a lot of Bourne Identity influence", but were scrapped after the development team decided that going in this direction would be taking too much of a risk. The environment is also used to project mission objectives and key plot points onto walls in order to keep the player immersed in the gameplay during the narrative.
One of Ubisoft's stated goals for Conviction was to make the game more accessible. According to Béland, Chaos Theory is "very hardcore", which turned off many players and disillusioned people from the fantasy of being Sam Fisher. Beland contrasted the earlier games in the series with works containing James Bond or Jason Bourne, who "run fast, they don’t make noise, they kill one, two, three or four guys super quickly" and stated that Conviction delivers a similarly dynamic experience with an emphasis on action.

Yu-Gi-Oh:Power of Chaos series

Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion is a video game developed by Konami. It is part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos series, which also includes Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Kaiba the Revenge and Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Yugi the Destiny. Like the other two games before it, this game features duels against Joey Wheeler. It can combine with both games before it to expand the card library even further. This is also the only game in the series that supports LAN games with other players. It has a street type feel, with the dueling field spray-painted onto asphalt.

Supreme Commander 2

Supreme Commander 2 is a real-time strategy video game developed by Gas Powered Games and published by Square Enix. It is a sequel to Supreme Commander. A PC only demo was initially released via Steam on February 24, 2010, with the full game released on March 2, 2010. An Xbox 360 demo was made available on March 4, 2010; with the full game released on March 16.

Plot

The story starts with the newly-elected president's assassination. A trailer for the game released at the Entertainment Software Association's 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo indicates that the story takes place twenty-five years after the conclusion of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, and centers on the breakdown of peaceful relations between the United Earth Federation, the Aeon Illuminate, and the Cybran Nation, implying that war has been instigated through a single bullet. Supreme commander also has 18 missions; 6 for the UEF 6 for the Cybran and 6 for the Aeon Illuminate. The UEF campaign follows Dominic Maddox, a UEF commander who fights off Cybrans and later withdraws from the UEF and fights to defend his family. The Illuminate campaign follows commander Thalia Kael (probably a descendant of Evaluator Kael, one of major enemies of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance), while Cybran campaign follows Ivan Brackman who is an experimental son/clone of Dr. Brackman and Elite Commander Dostya, a deceased Cybran commander from Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Just like in the first installment the end goal is to acquire a planet killer superweapon.

NBA 2K10 is a basketball video game based on the National Basketball Association developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It was released on October 6, 2009 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP and on October 12, 2009 on PC. It was released on Wii on November 9, 2009 in North America. It was released in Europe on November 27. Kobe Bryant is the cover athlete of the game.The game is the first PSP and Wii release of the NBA 2K series, and the first on a Nintendo system since NBA 2K3 for the GameCube. Assassin Creed II

Assassin's Creed II is a third person action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles, and Microsoft Windows. It is the second video game installment of the Assassin's Creed series and is a direct sequel to the 2007 video game Assassin's Creed. The game was released on video game consoles in November 2009, and released for Windows on 3 March 2010.

The game is set in 2012, with player-controlled protagonist Desmond Miles escaping from Abstergo Industries with an employee, Lucy Stillman, after being forced to relive the genetic memories of ancestral assassin Altaïr ibn La-Ahad through a machine known as the "Animus." After escaping from Abstergo, Desmond enters a device which is more advanced than the Animus and relives the genetic memories of ancestral nobleman Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who lived during the Renaissance period of the late fifteenth century in Italy. The player controls Ezio, who becomes an Assassin after his father and brothers are murdered by a traitor to the Auditore family. While controlling Ezio, the player can explore game renditions of Italian cities, regions and landmarks in open world gameplay. The gameplay is a mixture of action, stealth and platforming.

Assassin's Creed II was met with widespread acclaim, garnering aggregated scores of 91% for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, from review aggregator Metacritic. The game was praised for its stronger emphasis on open-world exploration and interaction, non-linear gameplay and greater mission variety compared to the first Assassin's Creed. The game was also credited with improved non-player character AI and combat mechanics, and its new economic system allowing players to purchase accessories, armor and improved weapons through the course of the game.

Gameplay

Assassin's Creed II takes place in an open world with nonlinear gameplay, allowing the player to roam freely within several regions throughout late fifteenth-century Italy such as Venice, Florence, and the Tuscan countryside. The Animus 2.0, a new version of the machine of the same name present in Assassin's Creed, provides in-game context for changes and additions to several game elements. A database is also available, providing extra historical information about key landmarks, characters and services that the player encounters. The health system has been made more dynamic, with synchronization to the Animus and causing the character to recover only from minor injuries. More grievous injuries require visiting a street-side doctor or use medicine which can be purchased from doctors.

The player may now swim in water, and eagle vision—the ability to identify specific people and landmarks—can now be used in third-person view and while moving. A young Leonardo da Vinci is present in the game, aiding the player by creating new weapons from translated "codex pages" that Altaïr, the original game's main character, left behind for future assassins' analysis and insight. Within the game, the player will be able to use Leonardo's flying machine (based on real-life plans by Leonardo) while on one mission. The player also has the ability to control a carriage on one level, but can row gondolas, as well as ride horses at any point in the game where they are readily available.
he combat system is more complex than that of its predecessor, with the ability to disarm opponents using counter attacks while unarmed. If the player steals an enemy's weapon, it is possible to follow up with an attack that instantly kills. Leonardo da Vinci provides the player with specialized weaponry, such as the hidden dual blades, poison blade and the miniature firearm. Generic swords, cutlasses, maces, axes, spears and daggers can all be purchased from vendors in each city or otherwise looted from corpses. In addition, players are able to purchase artwork for their villa, obtain new armour as the game progresses and even dye Ezio's clothing with a number of different colours. Other equipment includes: larger pouches to carry more throwing knives and medicine. Six additional weapons can be unlocked by connecting a PSP with Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines to the PS3.

The Auditore family's countryside villa acts as Ezio's headquarters, and the surrounding property can be upgraded, drawing income for the player's use. There are several outlets for using currency, with vendors selling items such as medicine, poison, weapons, repairs, upgrades, paintings and colored dyes for changing the color of Ezio's outfit. When these shops are renovated, Ezio receives discounts at the shops on the goods they sell.

There is now a broader array of methods for hiding or blending in the area. One can dive underwater to break the guards' line of sight, and blending may be performed with any group of people, rather than only a specific type, as in the first Assassin's Creed.The game features a notoriety system, with Ezio becoming more recognizable depending on his behavior, location, and current mission. This infamy can be reduced with bribery, removing wanted posters, or assassinating corrupt officials. A day and night cycle has been added to the game, giving the game more of a sense of time, in addition to setting missions and events at certain times of the day. There are many ways to interact with non-player characters, with some NPCs available for hire, to serve as a distraction, or to fight alongside the player. Money thrown to the ground may also serve as a distraction. There are also several types of enemies, some more agile or stronger than others.

The missions in the game now have an expanded variety, with different structuring. For example, a mission may have the objective to escort someone, but may change to a chase and assassination. Investigation is less explicit, and instead missions may follow people and/or a narrative. There are roughly 200 missions in this game; about half are part of the main storyline, while the rest are side quests. Cities also contain hidden locations such as catacombs and caves, the design of which have been compared, by the developers, to the Prince of Persia series, where the objective is to navigate the area. Exploring these locations eventually rewards the player with an Assassin's symbol, six of which allow the player to unlock the armor of Altaïr.

Like Assassin's Creed, characters based on historical figures are present in the game including Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza, Lorenzo de' Medici, the Pazzi Family, and Pope Alexander VI.

Locations in the game include the Tuscany region (Florence, Monteriggioni and San Gimignano), the Apennine Mountains, the Romagna region (Forlì), Venice and Rome. Specific landmarks include St Mark's Basilica,the Grand Canal, the Little Canal, the Rialto Bridge,Santa Maria del Fiore, the Sistine Chapel, Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, and Santa Maria Novella.

Bioshock 2

BioShock 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Marin and Irrational Games for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles, and the Windows operating system.It is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 video game BioShock. The game was released world-wide on February 9, 2010.

The game is set in fictional dystopian city Rapture, in a steampunk alternative history 1968, eight years after the events of BioShock. The protagonist and player-controlled character is a Big Daddy, a being that has had its organs and skin grafted into an atmospheric diving suit. Among the first of its kind, the player-controlled Big Daddy reactivates with no recollection of the past decade's events, and scours the city in an attempt to relocate the Little Sister that he was paired with. When it becomes obvious that Rapture's leader Sofia Lamb will become responsible for the city's destruction, the Big Daddy attempts to overthrow Lamb and her army of Big Sisters.

Gameplay
BioShock 2 is presented as a first person shooter, with the player taking on the role of "Subject Delta", a prototype for the Big Daddies some ten years after the events of the first game. As with BioShock, the player explores Rapture and fighting off Splicers, the remaining psychotic human population of the city, using a combination of the environment, weapons, Plasmids and Tonics. Plasmids and Tonics are special genetic-reencoding liquids that grant the user active or passive abilities, respectively, and include both those introduced in BioShock and new ones for this game. For example, Plasmids can give the player the ability to use telekinesis or evoke fire, while Tonics can improve the player's movement speed, attack damage, or damage resistance. Most of the weapons in BioShock 2 are those that were previously seen carried by Big Daddies from the first game, including a powerful drill and a rivet gun. The weapons feature multiple ammunition types that can be used in specific situations (such as anti-personnel rounds for a machine gun) or to set traps for the Splicers. The player can use each weapon in a close-range melee attack. Unlike the first game, the player is able to equip both one weapon and one Plasmid at the same time, which they can use in quick succession to destroy foes; for example, by first freezing a foe, they can be shattered into pieces using a spear gun. If the player is killed, they are revived in the nearest "Vita-Chamber".

As the player explores Rapture, they will collect ammo, health and EVE (a liquid used to power Plasmid use) recovery items, and money. Money can be used to purchase more items at vending machines across the city. The player will also encounter security systems which can be hacked through a mini-game. This requires the player to stop a quickly-moving needle one or more times in the correctly-colored marked area of a gauge. Stopping it within the blue area (this only needs to be done once per hack) may grant a bonus to the hacking attempt, landing in the white area shocks the player (dealing a small amount of damage) while landing in red-colored areas can lead to the start of a security alert. The player also gains access to a research camera; in BioShock 2, after taking a picture of an enemy, the player has a short time to do as much damage to that enemy to score a number of points, which are then added towards the research of that enemy type. At various levels of research, the player is then rewarded with new abilities in general or towards that specific type of foe. Certain areas of the game take place entirely underwater, limiting the actions the player can perform.

A Big Sister
As a Big Daddy, the player can attempt to attack other Big Daddies escorting Little Sisters. Should the player succeed, they can then either choose to Harvest the Little Sister, gaining appreciable ADAM to be used for buying new Plasmids and Tonics, or opt to Adopt them. While adopted, the Little Sister will lead the player to corpses where she can extract more ADAM. While she does this, the player must defend her from Splicer attacks. Once the Little Sister has collected enough ADAM, the player can then return her to an escape vent, again allowing the player to choose to Rescue the Little Sister, receiving a modest amount of ADAM but with the possibility of beneficial gifts later, or harvest her for a large ADAM boost. ADAM can then be spent at Gatherers Gardens machines throughout Rapture. Once the player has either Rescued or Harvested each of the Little Sisters on the level, the player will be attacked by a Big Sister. The Big Sister's agility and resourcefulness will task the players with a difficult fight before they can proceed with the game.

Multiplayer
BioShock 2 features a story driven multiplayer mode where the player takes on the role of a citizen of Rapture. Set in 1959, just before the events of BioShock, the player chooses to take on the role of a splicer fighting in Rapture's civil war. The player is being sponsored by Plasmid manufacturer, Sinclair Solutions, to test out their weapons, Plasmids, and Tonics in a consumer reward program. As the player progresses through the multiplayer experience, new weapons and Plasmids will be unlocked (provided by Sinclair), in addition to the story of the Rapture civil war being told.

The player can choose between 6 characters to be their in-game avatar. The characters are: a welder named Jacob Norris, a housewife named Barbara Johnson, a football star named Danny Wilkins, a businessman named Buck Raleigh, a pilot named Naledi Atkins, and an Indian mystic named Suresh Sheti. Two additional characters are available only by pre-ordering the game from 12game, GameStop, EB Games or Game: a fisherman named Zigo d'Acosta and an actress named Mlle Blanche de Glace.

Multiplayer comes in 7 different modes, two of which have a single and team based mode.The modes are:

* Survival of the Fittest: A 'free-for-all' mode where each player gets points for killing each of the other players. Whichever player has the most kills or 20 kills at the end of the match wins.
* Civil War: Similar to 'Survival of the Fittest,' but in this mode players are divided into two teams and the team with the most collective kills at the end of the match wins.
* Last Splicer Standing: A variation of 'Civil War' in which players do not respawn after being killed. Each match consists of several rounds in which players attempt to outlive the players on the enemy team.
* Capture the Sister: A 'Capture the Flag' style mode where players are divided into two teams. One team has to protect a Little Sister while the other team tries to steal her and place her in a vent on the other side of the map. The team protecting the little sister will have a randomly chosen player be a Big Daddy. After a pre-determined amount of time, the teams switch roles. Whichever team has the most captures at the end of the match wins.
* ADAM Grab: In this mode there is one Little Sister on the map and the player must seek her out and maintain possession of her as long as possible. The first person to hold onto the Little Sister for 3 minutes wins.
* Team ADAM Grab: A variant of 'ADAM Grab' where players are divided into two teams. The objective is the same, but victory is determined by a collective score rather than individual scores, and the first team to hold the little sister for 5 minutes wins.
* Turf War: Players are split into two teams and each team must reach pre-determined points on the map to capture that point. The team with the most control points over the longest time wins.

In all modes except 'Capture the Sister' a Big Daddy suit will spawn at a random location in the level. If a player can find the suit, the choice is given to become the Big Daddy, which will give the player greater strength and endurance, but prohibits the use of plasmids and expels any previously held damage bonuses against other players. Once the Big Daddy is defeated, the suit disappears and is moved to another location on the map. In 'Capture the Sister' one member of the defending team is chosen at Random to be the Big Daddy. After the players death, the Big Daddy suit disappears for the rest of the round.

Plot
Set in 1968, 8 years after the events in BioShock, Rapture is now under the control of a psychiatrist named Sofia Lamb, whose ideas for human progression are a sharp contrast to the city's deceased founder, Andrew Ryan. While Ryan believed in the genius of the individual, Lamb believes in collective effort and the power of the community. Under Sofia's rule, the first generation of Little Sisters have matured into adolescence. The Big Sisters, as they are now known, are highly aggressive and have the ability to use plasmids absorbed from gathering ADAM as a child. Sofia sends them out to coastlines across the Atlantic, kidnapping little girls and turning them into new Little Sisters.

In 1958, the first Big Daddy, Subject Delta, is forced to commit suicide by Sofia Lamb, who informs him that his Little Sister is actually her daughter Eleanor, who watches in horror as Delta shoots himself in the head. Ten years later, Delta is revived by a Vita Chamber and begins to receive psychic messages from Eleanor pleading for help. Delta encounters Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum, who tells him that in order to save Eleanor and stop Lamb, he must travel to where Eleanor is held. If he does not, a fail-safe device designed to trigger if he strays too far from her will activate, killing him. On his journey, Delta is aided by Tenenbaum's new ally Augustus Sinclair. Delta also receives aid from Eleanor, who uses her psychic connection to the new Little Sisters to leave care packages and messages throughout Rapture.

Through the audio logs scattered throughout Rapture, Delta discovers that, Lamb was originally brought to Rapture to help those who were struggling to cope with underwater life. However, Lamb used the therapy sessions as a means to brainwash her patients into joining a cult she called The Family. In response to this new threat, Andrew Ryan asked Sinclair to deal with her. Sinclair used a spy within The Family, Stanley Poole, to get Lamb arrested and exiled from Rapture. Eleanor was then left in the care of Grace Holloway. When Eleanor confronted Poole, who had bankrupted Lamb's property, Dionysus Park, in order to cover up his actions, Stanley panicked and kidnapped her. Eleanor ended up in one of Frank Fontaine's orphanages, which led to her transformation into a Little Sister.

Upon arriving in Fontaine Futuristics, Lamb's plan becomes clear: she plans to use ADAM to transform and enslave her daughter, who can then be controlled using the same conditioning methods used on Jack Ryan. Sinclair's agenda also becomes clear: he plans to take control of Rapture from Lamb and then cannibalize its technology to sell to the surface.

After infiltrating Lamb's base of operations, Delta is captured, and his pair-bond with Eleanor is severed. However, Eleanor sends a special plasmid to Delta that allows him to take control of a Little Sister. Depending on Delta's actions throughout Rapture she is either a spirited, rebellious young woman determined to win her freedom or a ruthless cynic who only thinks of her own welfare and survival.

Following Eleanor's instructions, Delta brings her Big Sister armor, allowing her to free Delta and fight by his side. They resolve to make their final escape from Rapture using Sinclair' s escape pod. Lamb, upon seeing her daughter defy her, plans to set off bombs that will kill them all. During their escape, Delta is forced to kill Sinclair, who had been captured by Lamb and transformed into a Big Daddy.

After a final climactic showdown with the remnants of The Family, Eleanor and Delta make it to the escape pod, but a final trap set by Lamb mortally wounds Delta and starts to send them to the bottom of the sea. Trapped in the flooded escape pod with her mother, Eleanor makes the choice to either kill or save Lamb based on the player's actions.

The game can then end in one of four ways:

* The "evil" ending is shown when Eleanor drains Delta's ADAM against his will, causing her to become a murderous monster. This ending is achieved when you harvest at least one Little Sister and kill Grace Holloway, Stanley Poole, and Gil Alexander.
* The "less evil" ending is given after choosing to save yourself, in which Eleanor absorbs Delta's ADAM so he survives and she gets his power. This ending is earned by harvesting and saving at least one Little Sister and killing Grace Holloway, Stanley Poole, or Gil Alexander.

* The "sad" ending is caused by Eleanor not draining Delta's ADAM after he chooses to sacrifice himself. Eleanor talks in a sad tone about herself being alone now that both her mother and her father are gone. It ends with a hopeful tone as Eleanor states that although he is now dead, Delta gave her the "the greatest gift of all, freedom." This ending is earned with the less evil ending after you are given the choice to save or sacrifice yourself.

In the two "evil" endings and "sad" ending, the sky is shown amidst a thunderstorm, with bodies of dead splicers floating in the ocean.

* The "good" ending is set in sunny skies. Eleanor saves her mother and absorbs Delta's ADAM claiming that he is her conscience, thus Delta becomes a part of Eleanor. The scene ends with Eleanor looking down at the ocean with the cured Little Sisters surrounding her. A Little Sister hands Eleanor the Big Daddy doll that Eleanor had made in the image of Delta and Eleanor drops it into the water. This ending is earned when you save at least one Little Sister and spare Grace Holloway, Stanley Poole, and Gil Alexander. However, if the player saves all Little Sisters, and spares Grace then they may kill Gil Alexander and Poole without consequence.

STALKER : Call of Pripyat

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is the sequel of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, a first-person shooter computer game by Ukrainian developer GSC Game World. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is the third game in the survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.


Synopsis

Plot

The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl following the ending in which Strelok destroys the C-Consciousness. Having discovered the open path to the Zone's center, the government decides to stage a large-scale operation to take control of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

According to the operation's plan, the first military group is to conduct an air scouting of the territory to map the anomalous fields. Thereafter, making use of the maps, the main military forces are to be dispatched.

Despite thorough preparations, the operation fails. Most of the advanced helicopters crash. In order to collect information on the reasons for the operation's failure, Ukraine's Security Service send their agent (protagonist - Alexander Degtyarev) into the Zone. From now on everything depends on the player.

The player must traverse through the Zone and investigate the crash sites. As the player progresses he starts learning how the helicopters were shot down. The climax of the story begins when the player reaches Pripyat to find survivors of the helicopter crashes. The player eventually meets Strelok from the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game (Shadow of Chernobyl) and learns of the secrets behind the Zone.

The game concludes with the survivors, Strelok, and the player leaving the Zone. Before boarding the helicopter the player is prompted whether he wishes to leave The Zone forever or continue exploring the Zone. If the player decides not to leave the Zone, then the game enters a free-play mode. During free-play mode the player can leave the Zone by NPCs at any time he wants.

The game's ending movie differs depending on the actions of the player during the game. How the player handles in-game missions, and whether certain NPCs are alive or not by the end of the game directly effects the ending sequence.

Setting
The game takes place in and around the city of Pripyat. The area is divided into three parts known as Zaton, Jupiter Neighborhood, and the city of Pripyat itself. Each of these is a large playable area.

Gameplay
The majority of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat's [commonly abbreviated as "CoP"] gameplay focuses on a unique combination of both post apocalyptic horror, as well as tactical role-playing action, mostly revolving around the the "Chernobyl zone of exclusion".

Combat
Receiving damage will usually cause bleeding, which the player must take care of with medical supplies. Similarly, unmaintained weapons and some equipment will be damaged from continued use. The condition of an item is displayed as a gauge next to the entry in the player's inventory. If severely damaged or broken, a red HUD icon will denote this.

Traders
The Zone features a limited economy, with traders and inhabitants exchanging goods and services for money and items. The game's trading system differs from the previous editions in that weapons and armor that have degraded past a certain point are unable to be sold until they are repaired, at which point the repair costs usually offset the sell price. Traders also sell information on missions and are keen to be in receipt of documents.

Upgrades
Upgrading has three tiers of improvement, with each one requiring a toolkit to allow for respective tier upgrade/modification. Rough tools will allow the player to access the first tier and fine tools will allow access to the second tier. The calibration tool kits are only found in Pripyat and will give access to the last tier. The upgrade system is similar to that of Clear Sky except that the negatives of upgrades are removed. Upgrading a certain element still causes other options to be possibly canceled.

Mutants
Various mutant creatures roam the Zone, most of which are hostile to Stalkers and will pursue and attack people who get too close. Artificial intelligence has been overhauled since the previous two games and now offers these creatures advanced and more realistic behavior. One creature in particular, the Snork, a humanoid-hybrid, focuses on guerrilla-style attacks.

Factions
Several factions reside in the Zone: Loners, Bandits, Mercenaries, Scientists, Zombified Stalkers, Military, Monolith, Duty, and Freedom, the two latter ones being ideologically motivated; Control and anarchy, respectively. Although not at war, fights will occasionally break out outside designated "Safe Zones". At some certain spots of Zaton and Jupiter Neighbourhood groups of Mercenaries, both neutral and hostile to the player, appear.
The player's relations to the factions are commonly neutral. However, Zombified Stalkers and Monoliths are hostile towards the player.

Emissions
Each day in the game, "emissions" will occur: The ground will shake, an indication of the unstable Chernobyl power plant about to eject lethal radiation. The player will be warned two minutes in advance of an upcoming blowout, and must find a predesignated shelter so as not to be exposed to the nuclear fallout. The sky will turn red as the blowout passes through the player's region, killing everything outside of a shelter. The player can, however, survive outside of a shelter during a blowout if he consumes anabiotics, in which case he will pass out and wake up after the blowout. Blowouts can cause new artifacts to be spawned in the anomaly fields.

Artifacts
Artifacts are found in or around anomalies. Players have to use special detectors bring artifacts into the visible spectrum, as they are naturally invisible. Every time a blowout occurs, each anomaly field has a chance of creating a new artifact within its wake. These artifacts can be sold, be put into artifact slots that are incorporated into suits that the player can wear and are occasionally given as rewards for services rendered. Primarily, artifacts serve as a means to enhance the player's abilities, dependent on which artifact the player has put into his artifact slot. Most are modular and can be used in conjunction with other artifacts, or multiple artifacts of the same kind can be used to multiply their effects. Most of these artifacts emit harmful radiation, limiting their usage to short periods of time. Radiation-reducing artifacts can be used to counter this effect.

Free play
In the free play mode, the player may traverse the zone and finish all of the missions that were not finished.The player is also able to obtain hidden artifacts and unlock achievements.

Graphics
Call of Pripyat utilizes the XRAY 1.6 Engine, allowing advanced modern graphical features through the use of DirectX 11 to be fully intregrated; one outstanding feature being the inclusion of real-time GPU tesselation. Regions and maps feature photo realistic scenes of the region it is made to represent. There is also extensive support for older versions of DirectX, meaning that Call of Pripyat is also compatible with DirectX 8, 9, 10 and 10.1.

Aliens VS Predator

Aliens vs. Predator is a science fiction first-person shooter video game, developed Rebellion Developments, the team behind the 1999 original PC game, and published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The game is based on a combination of the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise and the Predator franchise. It was released February 16, 2010 in the US,February 19 in Europe and February 18 in Australia.

Gameplay
There are three campaigns in the game, one for each race/faction (the Predators, the Aliens and the Colonial Marines), that, while separate in terms of individual plot and gameplay, form one overarching storyline.

Following the storyline of the campaign modes comes the Xbox Live aspect of the game. In this Multiplayer section of the game, players face off in various different gametypes in various different ways.

Plot

Aliens
As an Alien the game starts out in a lab, where Humans are being kept imprisoned, as one of them wakes up a chestburster emerges from another subject killing him, soon after another kills him too. As the scientists enter the room to collect the specimens they find that "Specimen 6" is missing. A Chestburster then emerges from the victims mouth rather then the containment tube, and as a result the room in gassed, killing the two scientists, Mr. Weyland himself prevents the death of the creature, saying he has a feeling about it. Soon after, once Specimen 6 is fully grown, during an observation of its abilities, it is told by its queen to escape, but it is gassed and recaptured. As Mr. Weyland opens the door to ancient ruins made by the Predator species' ancestors, it emits a beam of light that disables the local Human colony's systems, also releasing Specimen 6's restrains allowing it to escape. Specimen 6 releases the other Aliens and their queen. Once free the Aliens go the colony where they begin to multiply through Facehuggers, and encounter Marines. As Specimen 6 continues to kill Marines and disable the Human colony's systems it eventually finds itself at the ruins Mr. Weyland opened, where it and it's sibling encounter a group of Predators, which they immediately battle and kill. An Elite Predator appears and battles Specimen 6, who weakens it to the point that a Face Hugger is able to attach itself to it. As Specimen 6 ventures through the jungle it is stopped and stunned as it senses the queen Alien is trapped in a fire at the Human colony, and dies in an explosion. As it is paralyzed Mr. Weyland's combat droids discover Specimen 6, and on Mr. Weyland's request, capture it. As they take the captured Specimen 6 off world to an orbiting ship, where Specimen 6 kills the crew and escapes. Specimen 6 is shown sleeping inside the ship, going through a metamorphosis; growing in size, and growing extra appendages. Specimen 6 sheds what remains of its skin and awakens, transformed into a queen alien.

Predator
As a Predator the game starts in the Jungles of an unnamed planet, where a "young blood" Predator goes through trials to become an Elite, once the trials are done he is given the rank of Elite, and dispatched with a group of other Elites to be taken to a planet to investigate the disappearance of some young bloods. Once at the planet the Predator ship destroys an orbiting Human Ship and launches the Elites to the planet surface. There the Elite finds one of the young bloods dead, and sets its wristband to self destruct, in order to keep the Humans from discovering their technology. The Elite encounters Human Marines, who he kills, soon after he encounters Aliens. The Elite quickly infiltrates the Human base, disabling the systems and killing all in sight, Human and Alien. Continuing its search, the Predator makes its way into the Human colony where it makes its way to the ruins and finds the Mask of an ancient and legendary Predator. Venturing through the forest the Elite finds another of the young bloods killed, he takes a smart disk weapon, and like before sets the fallen Predator's wrist band to self destruct. Making his way to the ruins and an arena the Elite finds itself battling a preatorian, which he kills, and finds a spear like weapon. The Elite then searches for an arm band that belonged to the ancient Predator who owned his new mask, the band being required to activate a self destruct device inside the ruins to destroy the ruins and thus the Human colony, in a last effort to keep the Humans from discovering their technology. Inside the Human colony he finds the wrist band and also sees Mr. Weyland, who plans to capture him dead or alive to take his technology. The Predator makes it to the tomb where he activates the self destruct, moments after he is attacked by a "Predalien"(an alien born from the body of a Predator). The two battle in an underground lava chamber, the Predator emerging victorious. The Predator returns to the ship as the Human Colony is destroyed, and the ancient Predator's mask shows him the locations of the Serpent(Predator word for Aliens) home world.

The Last Remnant

The Last Remnant (ラストレムナント, Rasuto Remunanto?) is a Japanese role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is directed at both Japanese and Western audiences and had a simultaneous release in Japan, North America and Europe, on November 20, 2008 for the Xbox 360.The Microsoft Windows version of the game was released on March 20, 2009 in PAL territories,March 24, 2009 in North America,and April 9, 2009 in Japan.A worldwide release on the Steam network occurred on April 9, 2009.A PlayStation 3 version of the game had been planned, but published reports speculate that it may be canceled due to the game's poor sales and mixed reception.

The game was directed by Hiroshi Takai and was the first Unreal Engine 3 game to be released by Square Enix.It is intended by Square Enix president Yōichi Wada to "become a cornerstone for [their] worldwide strategy".Art direction was overseen by chief artist Kimihiko Miyamae and art producer Yusuke Naora. The game's soundtrack was composed by Tsuyoshi Sekito.

Setting
The Last Remnant is set in a fictional world featuring a number of distinct humanoid races: the Mitras, human in appearance, the Yamas, strong fish-like people, the Qsitis, small reptilians, and the Sovanis, feline people with four arms.The world itself is broken up into multiple city-states, each with their own unique culture. The story of the game revolves around "Remnants", mysterious and coveted ancient artifacts of varying shapes and sizes which possess magic powers and which have been the cause of several wars throughout the game's history.Each remnant is "bound" to a specific person, who is the only one who can then use their power; powerful remnants that remain unbound for too long have the potential to cause a "collapse", or spawn monsters.As Remnants come in varying forms, all cities throughout the world have at least one that their ruler is bound to that assist to govern and bring peace to their assigned realm.

Characters
The Last Remnant offers a wide variety of characters, many of them optional. The main protagonist is Rush Sykes, an 18-year-old Mitra boy from a peaceful island. He is controlled by the player throughout the game. His 14-year-old sister, Irina, is kidnapped at the start of the game, and finding her is Rush's impetus for leaving the island and entering the main story.He immediately comes across David Nassau, the 19-year-old Mitra ruler of the city-state of Athlum, and his four generals: the 41-year-old Mitra Emma Honeywell, the 24-year-old Yama Blocter, the 55-year-old Qsiti Pagus, and the 200-year-old Sovani Torgal.These characters can be joined by several dozen other characters, many of whom are found through quests, while others can be hired at guilds. Every character has their own name and skillset. Rush is featured on the cover of the Xbox 360 version of the game.

The main characters oppose the Conqueror, a Mitra who during the course of the game attacks many city-states of the world with his army. He is helped in this regard, first in secret and then openly, by Wilfred Hermeien, an older Mitra who is both the leader of the city-state of Nagapur and of the ruling council of all of the city-states. He is also assisted by Wagram, a powerful Mitra sorcerer. The Conqueror is featured on the cover of the PC version of the game.


Gameplay
The game is split between a world area, a battle area, and a world map.The player controls Rush Sykes, the protagonist, and moves him around the world screen within an area, with the camera floating behind and slightly above him. Within the world screen, the player may talk to NPCs, enter buildings and other areas, or exit to the map screen. The map screen allows instant travel between different cities and areas, or between different areas within a city. The battle screen is shown only during combat, and is a three-dimensional area like the world screen with a setting reminiscent of the location the player is at in the world. There are no random encounters; instead, the player enters a battle and separate battle screen when they touch an enemy on the main world screen. The player may choose to enter a battle with multiple enemies at once by activating a "time-shift" system in which time slows down and they may run up to multiple enemies before commencing the battle.

The Last Remnant features a battle system labeled by director Hiroshi Takai as a "turn-based, command-based system using symbol encounters."During a battle, each enemy from the world screen is represented by a group, or "union", of enemies ranging from one to five individual units; similarly the player's forces are composed of multiple unions of three to five units each. The skills of the units in the player's unions, which include both story characters and hireable units that do not appear outside of battle, vary according to different parameters.One parameter is the "morale" bar, which is affected by the events in battle and can have positive or negative effects on the battle forces.[11] Each unit can also learn different attacks, which are divided into categories such as blade attacks and healing magic. At the beginning of each turn the player selects from a group of choices what attack types each union will perform; the player is unable to select the individual attack of each unit. Special attacks require "action points", which continually accrue during each battle.The player selects at the beginning of each turn which enemy union each of their unions will attack. As the enemy makes their selections at the same time, it is possible for a union to be "deadlocked", or forced to fight a different union then the player had selected.

In addition to battles, there are numerous quests which the player may undertake. Many of these quests take the player to an area immediately upon acceptance and return them once completed, while "guild quests" do not require acceptance and may be turned in by the player whenever the accomplishments listed in the quest are completed. Rush and the other units may equip many different weapons and items, which can either be bought or constructed. Other units also request materials to upgrade their own equipment, which can be purchased at stores, acquired in battles, or found in the world area using a creature called Mr. Diggs. Mr. Diggs can be upgraded as well to find more or higher quality materials.
Plot
The game opens with Rush running through a forest, trying to find his sister, who the player later learns has been kidnapped. He comes across an army led by David opposing an army of monsters, and at the battle's conclusion rushes forward as he mistakenly thinks he sees his sister in the crowd. After he generates a powerful shield with his Remnant pendant, he is interrogated by David and his generals, who decide to help him find Irena. When investigating a Remnant that is about to collapse Rush and company come across Wagrum and Irena, who escape. After chasing Wagram and Irena for several missions, the group attends the Congress meeting of the leaders of the city-states in Elysion, home to the Ark Remnant, which can transport users to the Sacred Lands.The city is also home to the Academy, a research institution devoted to studying Remnants, and the place where Rush's parents work. The Conqueror arrives at the Congress, and, after binding the Ark, demands to be given a massive Remnant of the type that each city-state has.After finding Rush's mother, though not his father, the group learns that the Conqueror, with his demands rejected, has started a war and is marching his army with the support of the "God-Emperor", a 1000-year-old legendary figure.

David decides to take the lead in opposing the Conqueror in hopes of earning independence for Athlum, which is currently a vassal state to the city of Celapaleis. The party is successful in stopping the Conqueror's army from attacking Celapaleis, but the Conqueror himself attacks Athlum in their absence. He kills Emma, who had remained behind to defend the city, and takes the massive Remnant of Athlum, shrinking it to a normal-sized sword. The party then returns to Elysion to rescue Irena from Wagrum. Irena is revealed to have a special power, that of unbinding bound Remnants, and it was for this reason that she was kidnapped. They discover that Hermeien is trying to use the Conqueror and Wagrum to spark distrust in the people for Remnants and the city-states' ability to control them, so that he can then use Irena and her power to prop himself up as supreme ruler.While the party are successful in retaking Irena and killing Hermeien, Wagrum escapes while revealing that he and the Conqueror never planned to support Hermeien, and the Conqueror uses Elysion's Remnant to destroy half of the city.

The game then skips forward four months with the beginning of the second disc of the game, and the player learns that the council city-states are now trying to find Remnants all around the world to use to fight the Conqueror, who is in turn binding and transforming the Remnants of the city-states, even those that are already bound. Rush's mother and father, once found, reveal that their research at the academy had been to create tablets that can transform Remnants, and it is through one of these that Wagrum stole that the Conqueror is able to do so. When the party travels to the God-Emperor's city, Undelwalt, to try to determine why he is supporting the Conqueror, they find Wagrum, who tells them that the Conqueror is a Remnant, and he and the God-Emperor are supporting him in his quest to destroy the people of the world, who are misusing Remnants and destroying the balance of the world.

The protagonists head to Elysium, which is under attack by the Conqueror's forces. The Conqueror ascends the Ark and binds it so that no one can follow him; after defeating his army the protagonists find a second Ark, even though no duplicate Remnants have ever been found.The party chases the Conqueror through the Sacred Lands, which are revealed to be the birthplace of remnants, and confronts him. He informs them that he is trying to release Remnants from the control of man, and that the task was originally supposed to be Rush's, who is a Remnant himself.He believes that their purpose is to take back the Remnants from the world that in his opinion is misusing them for warfare and destruction and allow them in turn to destroy the people of the world.Rush disagrees, and instead destroys the source of the remnants, sacrificing himself.The game then ends, as the remnants all around the world dissolve, but after the credits, Rush is heard talking to the Conqueror, saying that he is "going back".

The Sims 3: World Adventures

The Sims 3 World Adventures is the first expansion pack for the strategic life simulation computer game The Sims 3. It was announced on The Sims 3 website in August 2009, and had a North American release on November 18, 2009.

The expansion pack focuses on travelling to various areas in a manner similar to previous expansions The Sims: Vacation and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage. Sims are able to travel to simplified versions of France, China and Egypt. At these locations, sims are able to participate in adventures to earn rewards and benefits. Sims are also able to level up in new skills; Photography, Martial Arts, and Nectar Making. In addition the game provides new objects, socials, wishes and opportunities.

Early reception of the game has been positive with the game earning a Metacritic rating of 85.

Gameplay
The gameplay of The Sims 3 revolves around the titular sims. Players create their sims and control them throughout their lives. Players are able to manage various aspects of a sim's life including careers, skills and relationships. The gameplay of World Adventures remains largely unchanged from the original.

World Adventures expands on The Sims 3 by allowing players to take sims to simulated locations of Egypt, France and China. Sims are able to engage in cultural activities depending on the location. In Egypt, sims can visit pyramids and take up snake-charming; in China, sims are able to launch fireworks as well as take up martial arts and in France, sims can engage in nectar making. The amount of time a sim is able to stay in a location is dependent on a visa level. This level is increased by going on various adventures.

The main gameplay of World Adventures revolves around the ability to go on various quests known as adventures. An adventure consists of various goals linked together in a storyline.Typical goals include exploring various tombs, finding valuables and socializing with other sims. When exploring tombs, sims must navigate various obstacles to unlock different rooms. Initially, the entire tomb is hidden in a fog-of-war that disappears as the sim enters each room. Tombs hold several puzzle solving elements such as traps, dive holes and floor switches.

In addition, the game includes a complex tomb-building element that can be accessed using the games debug tools.Players are able to add gameplay-specific objects to their tombs as well as set various cause-effect mechanisms.

World Adventures adds three skills that provide new goals and challenges to players. The martial arts skill is initially increased by practising with training dummies. Once a skill threshold is reached sims can break wood and other objects placed over two blocks. Sims are able to engage in tournaments to increase their ranking. A sims skill level is represented visually by various belts that a sim wears on their uniform.

The nectar-making skill is increased by squishing various fruits into a nectar maker. The quality of the nectar is based on the quality of the individual fruits as well the state of the nectar maker. The value of the nectar can be increased by allowing the bottles to age in a nectar cellar.

The photography skill is based on taking photographs with a hand-held camera. Photos are taken using a first-person viewpoint. The game can detect the subject of a photograph. The game provides goals to the player in the form of lists of subjects for the sim to photograph. In addition, players can choose various styles such as panorama and sepia.

The creature in the game is a Mummy, which have several abilities, such as not having to go to sleep. They may also be encountered in tombs, where the player can be cursed.

There is also a new basement tool, which can be used to make proper basements without having to go through all sorts of fiddly ground operations. These basements can can four levels underground, in addition to the five above.
