Aliens VS Predator

Aliens vs. Predator is a science fiction first-person shooter video game, developed Rebellion Developments, the team behind the 1999 original PC game, and published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The game is based on a combination of the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise and the Predator franchise. It was released February 16, 2010 in the US,February 19 in Europe and February 18 in Australia.

Gameplay
There are three campaigns in the game, one for each race/faction (the Predators, the Aliens and the Colonial Marines), that, while separate in terms of individual plot and gameplay, form one overarching storyline.

Following the storyline of the campaign modes comes the Xbox Live aspect of the game. In this Multiplayer section of the game, players face off in various different gametypes in various different ways.

Plot

Aliens
As an Alien the game starts out in a lab, where Humans are being kept imprisoned, as one of them wakes up a chestburster emerges from another subject killing him, soon after another kills him too. As the scientists enter the room to collect the specimens they find that "Specimen 6" is missing. A Chestburster then emerges from the victims mouth rather then the containment tube, and as a result the room in gassed, killing the two scientists, Mr. Weyland himself prevents the death of the creature, saying he has a feeling about it. Soon after, once Specimen 6 is fully grown, during an observation of its abilities, it is told by its queen to escape, but it is gassed and recaptured. As Mr. Weyland opens the door to ancient ruins made by the Predator species' ancestors, it emits a beam of light that disables the local Human colony's systems, also releasing Specimen 6's restrains allowing it to escape. Specimen 6 releases the other Aliens and their queen. Once free the Aliens go the colony where they begin to multiply through Facehuggers, and encounter Marines. As Specimen 6 continues to kill Marines and disable the Human colony's systems it eventually finds itself at the ruins Mr. Weyland opened, where it and it's sibling encounter a group of Predators, which they immediately battle and kill. An Elite Predator appears and battles Specimen 6, who weakens it to the point that a Face Hugger is able to attach itself to it. As Specimen 6 ventures through the jungle it is stopped and stunned as it senses the queen Alien is trapped in a fire at the Human colony, and dies in an explosion. As it is paralyzed Mr. Weyland's combat droids discover Specimen 6, and on Mr. Weyland's request, capture it. As they take the captured Specimen 6 off world to an orbiting ship, where Specimen 6 kills the crew and escapes. Specimen 6 is shown sleeping inside the ship, going through a metamorphosis; growing in size, and growing extra appendages. Specimen 6 sheds what remains of its skin and awakens, transformed into a queen alien.

Predator
As a Predator the game starts in the Jungles of an unnamed planet, where a "young blood" Predator goes through trials to become an Elite, once the trials are done he is given the rank of Elite, and dispatched with a group of other Elites to be taken to a planet to investigate the disappearance of some young bloods. Once at the planet the Predator ship destroys an orbiting Human Ship and launches the Elites to the planet surface. There the Elite finds one of the young bloods dead, and sets its wristband to self destruct, in order to keep the Humans from discovering their technology. The Elite encounters Human Marines, who he kills, soon after he encounters Aliens. The Elite quickly infiltrates the Human base, disabling the systems and killing all in sight, Human and Alien. Continuing its search, the Predator makes its way into the Human colony where it makes its way to the ruins and finds the Mask of an ancient and legendary Predator. Venturing through the forest the Elite finds another of the young bloods killed, he takes a smart disk weapon, and like before sets the fallen Predator's wrist band to self destruct. Making his way to the ruins and an arena the Elite finds itself battling a preatorian, which he kills, and finds a spear like weapon. The Elite then searches for an arm band that belonged to the ancient Predator who owned his new mask, the band being required to activate a self destruct device inside the ruins to destroy the ruins and thus the Human colony, in a last effort to keep the Humans from discovering their technology. Inside the Human colony he finds the wrist band and also sees Mr. Weyland, who plans to capture him dead or alive to take his technology. The Predator makes it to the tomb where he activates the self destruct, moments after he is attacked by a "Predalien"(an alien born from the body of a Predator). The two battle in an underground lava chamber, the Predator emerging victorious. The Predator returns to the ship as the Human Colony is destroyed, and the ancient Predator's mask shows him the locations of the Serpent(Predator word for Aliens) home world.

The Last Remnant

The Last Remnant (ラストレムナント, Rasuto Remunanto?) is a Japanese role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is directed at both Japanese and Western audiences and had a simultaneous release in Japan, North America and Europe, on November 20, 2008 for the Xbox 360.The Microsoft Windows version of the game was released on March 20, 2009 in PAL territories,March 24, 2009 in North America,and April 9, 2009 in Japan.A worldwide release on the Steam network occurred on April 9, 2009.A PlayStation 3 version of the game had been planned, but published reports speculate that it may be canceled due to the game's poor sales and mixed reception.

The game was directed by Hiroshi Takai and was the first Unreal Engine 3 game to be released by Square Enix.It is intended by Square Enix president Yōichi Wada to "become a cornerstone for [their] worldwide strategy".Art direction was overseen by chief artist Kimihiko Miyamae and art producer Yusuke Naora. The game's soundtrack was composed by Tsuyoshi Sekito.

Setting
The Last Remnant is set in a fictional world featuring a number of distinct humanoid races: the Mitras, human in appearance, the Yamas, strong fish-like people, the Qsitis, small reptilians, and the Sovanis, feline people with four arms.The world itself is broken up into multiple city-states, each with their own unique culture. The story of the game revolves around "Remnants", mysterious and coveted ancient artifacts of varying shapes and sizes which possess magic powers and which have been the cause of several wars throughout the game's history.Each remnant is "bound" to a specific person, who is the only one who can then use their power; powerful remnants that remain unbound for too long have the potential to cause a "collapse", or spawn monsters.As Remnants come in varying forms, all cities throughout the world have at least one that their ruler is bound to that assist to govern and bring peace to their assigned realm.

Characters
The Last Remnant offers a wide variety of characters, many of them optional. The main protagonist is Rush Sykes, an 18-year-old Mitra boy from a peaceful island. He is controlled by the player throughout the game. His 14-year-old sister, Irina, is kidnapped at the start of the game, and finding her is Rush's impetus for leaving the island and entering the main story.He immediately comes across David Nassau, the 19-year-old Mitra ruler of the city-state of Athlum, and his four generals: the 41-year-old Mitra Emma Honeywell, the 24-year-old Yama Blocter, the 55-year-old Qsiti Pagus, and the 200-year-old Sovani Torgal.These characters can be joined by several dozen other characters, many of whom are found through quests, while others can be hired at guilds. Every character has their own name and skillset. Rush is featured on the cover of the Xbox 360 version of the game.

The main characters oppose the Conqueror, a Mitra who during the course of the game attacks many city-states of the world with his army. He is helped in this regard, first in secret and then openly, by Wilfred Hermeien, an older Mitra who is both the leader of the city-state of Nagapur and of the ruling council of all of the city-states. He is also assisted by Wagram, a powerful Mitra sorcerer. The Conqueror is featured on the cover of the PC version of the game.

Gameplay
The game is split between a world area, a battle area, and a world map.The player controls Rush Sykes, the protagonist, and moves him around the world screen within an area, with the camera floating behind and slightly above him. Within the world screen, the player may talk to NPCs, enter buildings and other areas, or exit to the map screen. The map screen allows instant travel between different cities and areas, or between different areas within a city. The battle screen is shown only during combat, and is a three-dimensional area like the world screen with a setting reminiscent of the location the player is at in the world. There are no random encounters; instead, the player enters a battle and separate battle screen when they touch an enemy on the main world screen. The player may choose to enter a battle with multiple enemies at once by activating a "time-shift" system in which time slows down and they may run up to multiple enemies before commencing the battle.

The Last Remnant features a battle system labeled by director Hiroshi Takai as a "turn-based, command-based system using symbol encounters."During a battle, each enemy from the world screen is represented by a group, or "union", of enemies ranging from one to five individual units; similarly the player's forces are composed of multiple unions of three to five units each. The skills of the units in the player's unions, which include both story characters and hireable units that do not appear outside of battle, vary according to different parameters.One parameter is the "morale" bar, which is affected by the events in battle and can have positive or negative effects on the battle forces.[11] Each unit can also learn different attacks, which are divided into categories such as blade attacks and healing magic. At the beginning of each turn the player selects from a group of choices what attack types each union will perform; the player is unable to select the individual attack of each unit. Special attacks require "action points", which continually accrue during each battle.The player selects at the beginning of each turn which enemy union each of their unions will attack. As the enemy makes their selections at the same time, it is possible for a union to be "deadlocked", or forced to fight a different union then the player had selected.

In addition to battles, there are numerous quests which the player may undertake. Many of these quests take the player to an area immediately upon acceptance and return them once completed, while "guild quests" do not require acceptance and may be turned in by the player whenever the accomplishments listed in the quest are completed. Rush and the other units may equip many different weapons and items, which can either be bought or constructed. Other units also request materials to upgrade their own equipment, which can be purchased at stores, acquired in battles, or found in the world area using a creature called Mr. Diggs. Mr. Diggs can be upgraded as well to find more or higher quality materials.
Plot
The game opens with Rush running through a forest, trying to find his sister, who the player later learns has been kidnapped. He comes across an army led by David opposing an army of monsters, and at the battle's conclusion rushes forward as he mistakenly thinks he sees his sister in the crowd. After he generates a powerful shield with his Remnant pendant, he is interrogated by David and his generals, who decide to help him find Irena. When investigating a Remnant that is about to collapse Rush and company come across Wagrum and Irena, who escape. After chasing Wagram and Irena for several missions, the group attends the Congress meeting of the leaders of the city-states in Elysion, home to the Ark Remnant, which can transport users to the Sacred Lands.The city is also home to the Academy, a research institution devoted to studying Remnants, and the place where Rush's parents work. The Conqueror arrives at the Congress, and, after binding the Ark, demands to be given a massive Remnant of the type that each city-state has.After finding Rush's mother, though not his father, the group learns that the Conqueror, with his demands rejected, has started a war and is marching his army with the support of the "God-Emperor", a 1000-year-old legendary figure.

David decides to take the lead in opposing the Conqueror in hopes of earning independence for Athlum, which is currently a vassal state to the city of Celapaleis. The party is successful in stopping the Conqueror's army from attacking Celapaleis, but the Conqueror himself attacks Athlum in their absence. He kills Emma, who had remained behind to defend the city, and takes the massive Remnant of Athlum, shrinking it to a normal-sized sword. The party then returns to Elysion to rescue Irena from Wagrum. Irena is revealed to have a special power, that of unbinding bound Remnants, and it was for this reason that she was kidnapped. They discover that Hermeien is trying to use the Conqueror and Wagrum to spark distrust in the people for Remnants and the city-states' ability to control them, so that he can then use Irena and her power to prop himself up as supreme ruler.While the party are successful in retaking Irena and killing Hermeien, Wagrum escapes while revealing that he and the Conqueror never planned to support Hermeien, and the Conqueror uses Elysion's Remnant to destroy half of the city.

The game then skips forward four months with the beginning of the second disc of the game, and the player learns that the council city-states are now trying to find Remnants all around the world to use to fight the Conqueror, who is in turn binding and transforming the Remnants of the city-states, even those that are already bound. Rush's mother and father, once found, reveal that their research at the academy had been to create tablets that can transform Remnants, and it is through one of these that Wagrum stole that the Conqueror is able to do so. When the party travels to the God-Emperor's city, Undelwalt, to try to determine why he is supporting the Conqueror, they find Wagrum, who tells them that the Conqueror is a Remnant, and he and the God-Emperor are supporting him in his quest to destroy the people of the world, who are misusing Remnants and destroying the balance of the world.

The protagonists head to Elysium, which is under attack by the Conqueror's forces. The Conqueror ascends the Ark and binds it so that no one can follow him; after defeating his army the protagonists find a second Ark, even though no duplicate Remnants have ever been found.The party chases the Conqueror through the Sacred Lands, which are revealed to be the birthplace of remnants, and confronts him. He informs them that he is trying to release Remnants from the control of man, and that the task was originally supposed to be Rush's, who is a Remnant himself.He believes that their purpose is to take back the Remnants from the world that in his opinion is misusing them for warfare and destruction and allow them in turn to destroy the people of the world.Rush disagrees, and instead destroys the source of the remnants, sacrificing himself.The game then ends, as the remnants all around the world dissolve, but after the credits, Rush is heard talking to the Conqueror, saying that he is "going back".

The Sims 3: World Adventures

The Sims 3 World Adventures is the first expansion pack for the strategic life simulation computer game The Sims 3. It was announced on The Sims 3 website in August 2009, and had a North American release on November 18, 2009.

The expansion pack focuses on travelling to various areas in a manner similar to previous expansions The Sims: Vacation and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage. Sims are able to travel to simplified versions of France, China and Egypt. At these locations, sims are able to participate in adventures to earn rewards and benefits. Sims are also able to level up in new skills; Photography, Martial Arts, and Nectar Making. In addition the game provides new objects, socials, wishes and opportunities.

Early reception of the game has been positive with the game earning a Metacritic rating of 85.

Gameplay
The gameplay of The Sims 3 revolves around the titular sims. Players create their sims and control them throughout their lives. Players are able to manage various aspects of a sim's life including careers, skills and relationships. The gameplay of World Adventures remains largely unchanged from the original.

World Adventures expands on The Sims 3 by allowing players to take sims to simulated locations of Egypt, France and China. Sims are able to engage in cultural activities depending on the location. In Egypt, sims can visit pyramids and take up snake-charming; in China, sims are able to launch fireworks as well as take up martial arts and in France, sims can engage in nectar making. The amount of time a sim is able to stay in a location is dependent on a visa level. This level is increased by going on various adventures.

The main gameplay of World Adventures revolves around the ability to go on various quests known as adventures. An adventure consists of various goals linked together in a storyline.Typical goals include exploring various tombs, finding valuables and socializing with other sims. When exploring tombs, sims must navigate various obstacles to unlock different rooms. Initially, the entire tomb is hidden in a fog-of-war that disappears as the sim enters each room. Tombs hold several puzzle solving elements such as traps, dive holes and floor switches.

In addition, the game includes a complex tomb-building element that can be accessed using the games debug tools.Players are able to add gameplay-specific objects to their tombs as well as set various cause-effect mechanisms.

World Adventures adds three skills that provide new goals and challenges to players. The martial arts skill is initially increased by practising with training dummies. Once a skill threshold is reached sims can break wood and other objects placed over two blocks. Sims are able to engage in tournaments to increase their ranking. A sims skill level is represented visually by various belts that a sim wears on their uniform.

The nectar-making skill is increased by squishing various fruits into a nectar maker. The quality of the nectar is based on the quality of the individual fruits as well the state of the nectar maker. The value of the nectar can be increased by allowing the bottles to age in a nectar cellar.

The photography skill is based on taking photographs with a hand-held camera. Photos are taken using a first-person viewpoint. The game can detect the subject of a photograph. The game provides goals to the player in the form of lists of subjects for the sim to photograph. In addition, players can choose various styles such as panorama and sepia.

The creature in the game is a Mummy, which have several abilities, such as not having to go to sleep. They may also be encountered in tombs, where the player can be cursed.

There is also a new basement tool, which can be used to make proper basements without having to go through all sorts of fiddly ground operations. These basements can can four levels underground, in addition to the five above.

The Sims 3

The Sims 3 is a strategic life simulation video game in The Sims franchise, originally created by Maxis. It was released on DVD for Microsoft Windows and for Macintosh, using cider emulation, on June 2, 2009 in North America, on June 4, 2009 in Australia and on June 5, 2009 in Europe. A collectors edition of the game containing exclusive downloadable content, a plumbob-shaped USB drive and a Hints and Tips guide created by Prima, was also released. An expansion pack titled The Sims 3: World Adventures has also been released on November 17, 2009. Versions for Seventh generation video game consoles are speculated, but have yet to be confirmed.

The Sims 3 is built upon the same concept as its predecessor. Players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life. The Sims 3, like The Sims and The Sims 2, does not have a defined final goal; gameplay is open-ended. This title also features a "living neighborhood" where all Sims age at once.

The Sims 3 proved to be an instant success, selling 1.4 million copies in its first week and dominating the sales charts over a month later.Critics issued mostly positive reviews; The Sims 3 gained an 86% score from aggregator Metacritic.

Gameplay
Sim houses and neighborhoods are entirely in one continuous map, and the developers have stated, "What you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within." The game includes an optional feature called "Story Progression", which allows all NPC Sims in the neighborhood to autonomously continue as if the player was controlling them, such as grow up, get married, get jobs and promotions, have children, build their dream house or buy a house, and so forth.

In addition to Needs, Sims now have Moodlets, which can be positive or negative. Moodlets involve events such as emotional or physical events, such as a good meal, comfort from sitting in a good chair, and other things. Most Moodlets last for a set duration, whereas some negative Moodlets can be cured and some positive ones rely on the Sim's surroundings.

The previous system of Wants and Fears from Sims 2 has been replaced with a new Wishes system. Fulfilling a Wish contributes to the Sim's Lifetime Happiness score, which can be used to purchase Lifetime Happiness Rewards.

Sims live for a set duration of time (adjustable by the player) and advance through several stages (baby, toddler, child, teen, young adult, adult, and elder). Sims can die of old age or they can die prematurely from causes such as fire, starvation, drowning, electrocution or mummy curse (new with Sims 3 World Adventures)

Open World
On March 19, 2008, EA revealed a new feature to The Sims 3: Open world. Sims can now explore the world outside their homes without having to face strenuous loading times. Every lot is now synchronized with the main neighborhood time. Before, time of day and weather were different in each lot and would continue off from the last time it was played. Players can also interact with every building in a city (gym, art gallery, etc.). Although players are unable to see inside of commercial buildings (grocer, bookstore, theater, police office, school, etc.), they are able to enter and retain limited control over the Sim's actions while in these locations. All occupied residential buildings can be entered in the same manner as the Sim's home lot.

Skills
There are several skill-dependent abilities, such as advanced social interactions available from high charisma, special songs for guitar players and appliance upgrades (self-cleaning, more TV channels, etc.) for high handiness. Painting, writing and guitar are now different skills, instead of the all-encompassing "creativity" skill of The Sims and The Sims 2. Paintings are now more particular to each Sim, based on their traits. Sims can increase their skills by practicing a skill (e.g. playing the guitar, working in the garden, writing a novel, etc.), reading a book about the skill, or taking a class in the skill at a civic building. Sims can begin building their skills as early as their toddler days.While skills do not show up in the meter right away, using skill building objects is rewarded once the toddler grows into a child.

Careers
In The Sims 2, Sims 'disappeared' once they took the carpool to work, and the player had no control of them until they returned, whereas in The Sims 3, each career now takes place in a building in the neighborhood that a Sim travels to. New aspects of careers include part-time jobs, overtime, and salary raises. Sims now have a boss to report to. Each career can yield several different rewards and some can be split into several tracks. A new function is that instead of having just skills to advance in a job, Sims also depend on relationships with co-workers and their boss.While at work, the player has a certain level of control over working Sims through 'Options', adjustable settings that dictate how the Sim should go about their work (e.g. take a break, socialize with co-workers, run errands, etc.)

Opportunities
One of the major new additions to gameplay is Opportunities, tasks that Sims can complete to earn rewards. These challenges occur randomly based on aspects of each Sim's lifestyle, such as relationships, skills and job. Career opportunities such as working overtime or completing special tasks can yield a pay raise, cash bonus, or relationship boost. Skill opportunities are requests by neighbors or community members for Sims to solve problems using their acquired skills for cash or relationship rewards.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is 2009 third-person action video game based on James Cameron's film of the same name. The title was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and was released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii and Nintendo DS on December 1, 2009, with a PSP version released later on December 8, 2009.It was announced by Ubisoft that it will be using the same technology as the film to be displayed in stereoscopic 3D.In a Nintendo Power interview, it was stated that the Wii version will use Ubisoft's Jade engine.
Premise

The video game is set on Pandora, an alien planet moon featured in the motion picture, apparently set two years before the film takes place. The game includes the Na'vi, Pandora's indigenous people and other life forms. The player controls a marine named Lance Corporal Able Ryder. Soon into the game the player decides to play the RDA'S army known as the Secops or Na'vi. If the player decides to join the Na'vi, the game becomes a third person adventure, and your human body is unplayable. If the player chooses to side with the Secops, the game remains a third person shooter, and your avatar is unplayable. Both types of characters are equipped with their own particular weapons and abilities, with many other weapons and abilities unlockable as the player gains experience (XP) during the game. On the Xbox 360 version there is an achievement called 'play the creator'.This is worth 200 g this can be completed by playing the creator in a online death match.

The iPhone version of the game follows a somewhat different storyline than the console games. In this version, the player controls a marine named Ryan Lorenz who has joined the avatar program. After getting separated from his group, he finds himself lost in the Pandoran jungle. He gains the trust of the Na'vi after restoring one of their sacred sights, and becomes a warrior for the Na'vi tribe, fighting against the human soldiers and AMP suits. He completes many tasks for the Na'vi, and eventually ends up saving Neytiri's sister from a military stronghold. At the end of the game, Ryan Lorenz goes to the Tree of Souls where a final battle takes place. Upon winning the battle, the playable portion of the game ends. In post-game cutscenes, a war of all the Na'vi against the humans is about to take place with Ryan Lorenz as the leader. Another cutscene then takes place, showing Ryan Lorenz's human body connected to the avatar uplink system. In this cutscene, a military official is arguing with a doctor about the loyalty of Ryan Lorenz. After a short dialogue, the military official points a high powered rifle at the head of Ryal Lorenz's human body. The scene fades out and a gunshot is heard, presumably killing both the human and avatar bodies of Ryan Lorenz.

Development

On July 24, 2007, it was announced that Ubisoft would be developing Avatar: The Game in conjunction with director James Cameron as he films Avatar. According to Cameron, "For the movie Avatar we are creating a world rich in character, detail, conflict and cultural depth. It has the raw material for a game that the more demanding gamers of today will want to get their hands on - one that is rich in visuals and ideas, and challenging in play." While Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, and Stephen Lang do voice their characters, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, leading roles in the film, are not featured. The game will be a different adaptation of the movie of the same name. The developers had carte blanche from the movie.

On August 27, 2009, MovieScore Magazine reported that composer Chance Thomas had been hired to write the music for Avatar: The Game.It is unclear whether the score will contain some of the musical themes composed by James Horner for the movie.

3D capabilities

According to Luc Duchaine, the game's senior international brand manager, the game will require an HDMI video connection, and a 120 Hz capable display in order to avail of the 3D effects.However, the following can be found on the Official Stereoscopic FAQ of the official forums: "Avatar: The Game has the option of outputting in most standard stereoscopic 3D formats, but a TV or monitor that is “3D-enabled” is necessary to decode and display the game in stereoscopic 3D."The release of the PC demo has confirmed the PC version of the game supports 3D capabilities as well.

According to Neil Schneider, executive director of the S-3D Gaming Alliance,NVIDIA has developed a proprietary method for NVIDIA's GeForce 3D Vision that allows left and right images to be passed directly from the game engine to the PC display. Up until Avatar, this was a limitation criticized by the gaming industry because they were forced to use NVIDIA's stereoscopic 3D driver when they would prefer to have full control of the S-3D gaming experience. Alternate solutions like iZ3D monitors, interlaced displays, dual output projectors and 3D Checkerboard DLP do not require this enhancement because game developers have full output control.

Silent Hunter III

Silent Hunter III is a submarine simulation developed by Ubisoft Romania and published by Ubisoft. It was released for the PC on March 15, 2005. Like Silent Hunter II, it places the player in command of a German U-Boat during World War II and the Second Battle of the Atlantic. It sought to address many of the complaints leveled against its predecessor, specifically the lack of a dynamic campaign.

Gameplay features

Silent Hunter III features a fully dynamic campaign. Instead of giving the player a specific set of objectives for each mission, Silent Hunter III simply assigns the player a certain patrol grid, and appropriate naval traffic, such as convoys, destroyer escorts, and task forces are automatically generated by the simulation engine. How the mission proceeds and what targets are attacked is left totally up to the player. In addition to being a more accurate representation of WWII U-Boat warfare, the dynamic campaign significant improve the game's replay value, as the campaign plays out differently each time.

A stated goal of the developer was to fully immerse the player. The game featured a fully 3D U-Boat control room, allowing the player the freedom to move about the interior of the submarine. Unlike other submarine simulations, where the crew is often heard but not seen, Silent Hunter III allows the player to see and interact with crewmembers. The game also tracks the stats of individual crewmembers, such as rank, experience, morale, and decorations, between missions.

In addition, the game provides ten historical single-player missions. These include saving the Bismarck, sinking the Royal Oak in Scapa Flow, attacking a task force as the first Type XXI U-boat, and passing through the Straits of Gibraltar (in a nod to Das Boot, the player commands U-96 in the Gibraltar mission).

Players can upgrade their U-boat's anti-aircraft gun(s), deck gun, diesel engines, batteries, radar, and sonar, and install special features such as a radar detector and anti-radar and -sonar coatings. Many different enemy vessels and aircraft are included.

While the dynamic campaign goes a long way to addressing the criticisms of the former Silent Hunter title, some gameplay issues still remain such as destroyers/escorts depth-charging at slow speeds, which in real life would normally result in critical damage to the destroyer. The Starforce copyright protection used for Silent Hunter III has also been criticized for installing incompatible device drivers.

Playable U-boats

The stock version of the game (often referred to as "vanilla SH3" by players) includes the following playable U-boats. The player enters the war with only a limited choice of U-boats if they choose to start in 1939. However, the types of U-boat available to the player can vary greatly depending on the year during which the player wants to start their career in. To transfer to another U-boat, the player has to spend "renown" (points awarded to the player every time a patrol is completed). U-boat costs can vary from 500 to 30,000 points depending on the type of U-boat chosen.

* Type II A & D Variants
* Type VII B, C, C/41 & C/42 Variants
* Type IX B, C, C/40 & D2 Variants
* Type XXI

Awards, Qualifications, and Promotions

Throughout a player's career, it is possible to obtain promotions, awards, and qualifications, both for the player and members of the U-Boat crew. U-Boat crew members can be "enlisted" and "dismissed" at will, meaning that, decorated sailors can be rotated out with "green sailors" with no decorations or qualifications. Crew members can also be enlisted at any rank, although any new crew member who joins will have no awards and only officers may be recruited with pre-existing qualifications (enlisted sailors must earn their qualifications underway on the U-Boat).

Crew members can also be promoted based on combat experience. The various ranks listed in the game begin with basic sailors, followed by "Warrant Officers" (in reality Chief Petty Officers), and then officer ranks. A midshipman rank also exists, which is viewed in the game simply as another officer position. The various game ranks for enlisted sailors (as well as their real world Kriegsmarine equivalents) are:

* Seaman (Matrosengefreiter)
* Able Seaman (Matrosenobergefreiter)
* Veteran Seaman (Matrosenhauptgefreiter)
* Warrant Officer (Matrosenoberfeldwebel)
* Senior Warrant Officer (Matrosenhauptfeldwebel)
* Chief Warrant Officer (Matrosenstabsfeldwebel)

Although the lower sailor ranks are referred to in the game as "Seaman", the game figures in fact wear the rank of Petty Officer; there are no actually seaman characters available (the rank of Matrose) nor is there a rank of basic Chief Petty Officer (Matrosenfeldwebel) since the warrant officer figures begin with a one pip shoulder strap insignia. It is also not possible to promote sailors between the various "castes", such as advancing a seaman to warrant officer or commissioning a warrant officer as an officer.

Available officer ranks are:

* Sub-Lieutenant (Oberfahnrich)
* Lieutenant, Jr. (Leutnant)
* Lieutenant, Sr. (Oberleutnant)

Midshipman rank is shown as a silver cord with two pips; lower midshipman grades are not used in the game.

Samurai Warriors 2 Extreme Legends

Samurai Warriors 2 (戦国無双2 Sengoku Musō 2?, Sengoku Musou 2 in Japan) is a sequel to the original Samurai Warriors, created by Koei and Omega Force. The game was released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, and received a port to Microsoft Windows in 2008.
Like the Dynasty Warriors series, an Empires expansion was released as well, and an Xtreme Legends expansion followed on August 23, 2007 in Japan.
Samurai Warriors 3, the sequel to SW2 and the third game in the series is set to be released in 2009 for the Wii.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Samurai Warriors 2 builds on the first Samurai Warriors by adding new characters and new features, such as the removal of the traditional range attacks in favor of the addition of two unique special abilities that differ from character to character. For example, Oichi can either summon new soldiers to the battlefield or improve the combat abilities of nearby allies, Yukimura Sanada can either whistle to call his mount to his side or perform a flaming charge, and Ginchiyo Tachibana can either increase the strength of her weapon or summon lightning to stun nearby enemy soldiers. In addition, characters movesets can evolve in a larger variety as they level up, elaborating on either their combo, charge or special attacks, with the progression of each character being different from the next. This leads to the characters having 1 of 3 different button combos.
A returning element from the original Samurai Warriors is the Survival Mode (Infinite Castle in the Japanese version). In this mode, the player chooses a character and fights through an endless castle. After choosing the character, 4 random missions will be given to the player to choose from. To choose a mission the player must pay a fee to perform the mission, though there are certain missions that do not require a fee. After that, the player enters the castle, and a mission will be triggered. After succeeding in the mission, the stairway to the next floor opens, and the player will be able to proceed to the next floor where there will be another mission to complete in order to proceed to the next floor, and so on.

Playable characters in the game (except for Ranmaru Mori and Okuni) have their own stories. Each story contains five stages (except for Ieyasu Tokugawa and Mitsunari Ishida, who both have six stages), plus a "Dream Stage" or "Gaiden" (Side Quest) in the Japanese version, that effectively asks "what if". For example, Yukimura Sanada's Dream/Gaiden stage (Battle of Sekigahara) puts him into a battle that took place historically between his fourth and fifth stages (Ueda Castle and Osaka Castle respectively). Correspondingly, since Mitsuhide Akechi and Nobunaga Oda both have endings where they won their historically final battles and survived, their Dream stages have them mopping up their gathered opposition.
This game also contains a Sugoroku mini-game as an additional feature. Up to four players can participate in this mode, and each player has to choose a character. The game's goal is to collect the requested amount of gold (depending on the player's settings). At the beginning of the game, three flags for each player will be divided in the map, and players can earn gold and raise their ranks by collecting their respective flags and returning to their home square. Additionally, a player can buy territories on the map, or challenge another player for the control of a territory. There are six types of challenges in the game: Annihilate (requires the players to defeat as many enemies as possible), Chase (requires the players to defeat as many fleeing Fire Ninjas as possible), Destroy (requires the players to destroy as many boulders as possible), Race (requires the players to break through the doors to reach the end before the opponent does), Reveal (requires the players to uncover as many Sky Ninjas as possible), and Steal (requires the players to collect as much gold as possible).
The CAW (Create-A-Warrior) mode from the original Samurai Warriors has been removed, but it was reintroduced in Samurai Warriors 2 Empires.

New characters
These are the characters who debuted in Samurai Warriors 2.
Ieyasu Tokugawa (Originally a unique NPC in the first game)
Nagamasa Azai (Originally a unique NPC in the first game)
Musashi Miyamoto
Yoshihiro Shimazu
Kotaro Fuma
Kanetsugu Naoe (Originally a generic NPC in the first game)
Sakon Shima
Mitsunari Ishida (Originally a generic NPC in the first game)
Ginchiyo Tachibana
Nene

Toshiie Maeda (Playable only in SW2: Xtreme Legends)
Motochika Chōsokabe (Playable only in SW2: Xtreme Legends)
Gracia (Playable only in SW2: Xtreme Legends)
Yoshimoto Imagawa, Goemon Ishikawa, and Kunoichi from the original Samurai Warriors were removed from this game, but the character Nene seems to be a replacement for Kunoichi due to similarities in combat characteristics and skills, and Yoshimoto Imagawa was brought back to the series in Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends.
Despite initial images being released, Katsuie Shibata and Kojiro Sasaki were only special NPCs (with their own character model) as Yoshimoto Imagawa, Kennyo Honganji, Hideyoshi Hashiba/Toyotomi, Ieyasu Tokugawa and Nagamasa Azai were in the original Samurai Warriors. If the player completes certain objectives in the game's Survival Mode, however, Katsuie and Kojirō may be unlocked as special bodyguards. As a note, screenshots from the Japanese version of Samurai Warriors 2 Empires have confirmed that both Shibata Katsuie and Sasaki Kojirō are playable characters in the game. Imagawa Yoshimoto and Honganji Kennyo were completely removed due to conflicting time periods; for the same reason, the battles of Inabayama, Ise-Nagashima, and other battles featuring the Imagawa or the Ikko-ikki are removed. The Battle of Okehazama exists solely in the opening movies of Nobunaga, Noh (same as Nobunaga's), and Mitsuhide. Also, Okuni and Ranmaru do not have Story Modes in Samurai Warriors 2, but are still playable in other modes (Note that both Okuni and Ranmaru can be played in Story Mode in multi-player mode only).
Minor clans include: Mori, Hojo, Otani, Chosokabe, Shibata, Saika, Asakura
The English voice production was provided by Montreal recording studio Agile Sound, with the voice casting provided by their sister company Total Casting.
The 6000 lines for the 33 characters were recorded in 33 days using 25 actors.

Championship Manager 2010

Championship Manager 2010 (abbreviated to Championship Manager 10 or CM 2010) is a Football Manager, or soccer in some countries, simulation video game. It is developed by Beautiful Game Studios and published by Eidos Interactive. It was released on PC on September 11, 2009 making it the first Championship Manager game to be released before Football Manager since Championship Manager 2007.

Features

Developers Beautiful Game Studios have implemented several new features, never seen before for both the Championship Manager series as well as other football management games. This is due to the 2 year development time for the game.

3D match engine

The match engine has undergone a radical overhaul with the result, a fully-animated match engine with over 500 individual player animations. There are seven different camera angles, replays and the ability to record and re-watch matches.

Created entirely from scratch at CM headquarters and designed specifically to bring the management experience to life, the Manager can now see how their decisions and instructions manifest themselves on the playing field in 3D.

Set Piece creator

This brand new feature enables managers to create Set Pieces. You can call upon all the individual strengths of your squad members to produce the perfectly executed free kick. The creator splits the set piece into a number of stages so managers can fine tune every crucial step from passing direction, cross/chips and runs to coordinating your defence when a corner is taken against you.

Scouting network

Scouting for new players is now a much more accessible feature and attractive prospect in Championship Manager 2010. Managers are given a world map view of their knowledge of different countries and expenditure allocation. Scouts report back the up and coming star players from around the world allowing you to dedicate more of your time to other areas.

Drill training

Managers can now set up drills to see how their players match up against each other – shooting, crossing, practice matches and much more all shown in the spectacular three dimensional match engine.

CM Season Live

A first in the football management genre, CM Season Live is a monthly downloadable update which brings you all the latest events from the world of football, dropping you into the action at key defining moments in the season. It’s nearing the end of the football season and your team is hovering around the bottom of the table, struggling to avoid relegation. Can you take over management, turn your team’s fortune around and prevent the drop?

Mail and media

A huge range of messaging in the game enables you to have far greater access to information and news from within the game's world of football. Broadcasting real media references, the latest CM news system delivers in a wide variety of ways. The user gets all the information and news that's relevant to their game in order to maximise their potential as a manager.

Dynamic display window

A dynamically updated display window brings a real world likeness to the user. Managers will be able to look out on the latest league tables, fixtures, top goal scorers and more from their in-game football world. Coverage from every part of the globe will appear throughout the game on every screen. Its the complete picture.

ProZone

An exclusive feature to the CM series, ProZone continues to evolve to enable users to access highly detailed, post-match analysis on their players. With full stats on their own team and the opposition, the manager has the complete picture of personal and team performances to aid their decisions. Providing data on every pass, run, shot and more, ProZone is the analysis tool, putting CM in the real football world. Professional managers use ProZone on a daily basis. It doesn't get any more real than this.

Development

Originally named Championship Manager 2009, the game was renamed due to a change in release dates. Championship Manager 2010 is the first game in the series to have a 2 year development time. This is due to recent versions in the series not being critically successful for publisher Eidos Interactive who admitted that the franchise had lost direction in recent years and that the publisher was determined to make the game a "strong alternative" to Sega's Football Manager.The release date was originally April 2009 but was pushed back to September 11, 2009 to polish the game properly.A Beta version PC Demo was released for players to test and report back problems to the developers in time for the final version release. On 18 August 2009, Eidos Interactive announced fans would be able to buy the game for as little as 1p along with a £2.50 'transaction fee'. This is the first time any computer games publisher has done this.
